Snicker's Salad

Forgive me for going all health-kick on you lately.   I thought you might need a recipe or two for when you're asked to bring a green salad to a summer BBQ or something.

You know you want to :)

I've noticed Snicker's salad making an appearance in the blog world lately, but every recipe I've seen is different than ours.  Some call just for Cool Whip and some for Cool Whip + vanilla pudding.  Our family recipe uses cream cheese along with the Cool Whip.  It's kind of tastes like caramel apple cheesecake.

Totally a salad worthy of summer BBQ season.

Snicker's Salad

-8 oz package cream cheese, softened
-1 cup powdered sugar
-1 container Cool Whip (large or small will both work, it just depends on how much "fluff" you'd like.  I used small)
-6 Granny Smith apples cut into bite-sized chunks
-8 Snickers bars, cut into bite-sized chunks
-Pretzels for garnish, if desired

Cream together cream cheese and powdered sugar with a mixer.  Fold Cool Whip into mixture. Add apples and candy bar pieces and mix until combined.

Let chill in refrigerator for at least an hour before serving but not overnight.  (Cut apples will "bleed" and the juice is kind of unappetizing, although edible).

Garnish with crushed pretzels if desired.

Oooh, I like the cream cheese idea way better than the pudding. And next time someone tells me to bring a salad, this is so what they're getting. :)
