Chewy Snickerdoodles

Sometimes you hafta post a recipe just so you can post ANOTHER recipe that uses the first recipe.

(Does that make sense? Keep a look out for a yummy dessert that uses Snickerdoodle pieces in the next week or two.)

I know Snickerdoodles are kind of a *boring* cookie, but my husband says these are the best chewiest ones he's ever tasted.  So I figured you deserved the recipe to these.

Please pronounce them "schhnicker-doodle" when offering them to others.

It's funny.  I promise.

Chewy Snickerdoodles
Recipe from Jamie Cooks It Up
-1 cup butter, softened (2 sticks)
-1 1/2 cups sugar
-2 eggs
-3 cups flour
-2 tsp cream of tartar
-1 tsp baking soda
-2 tsp baking powder
-1/8 tsp salt

For cinnamon sugar coating:
-3 Tbsp sugar
-1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.  Add eggs and beat for 2 minutes. (This part is what makes them chewy!)

In a separate bowl combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.  Add to your butter/sugar mixture and mix until combined.

Combine sugar and cinnamon for coating in a small bowl.

Roll Tbsp sized balls of dough in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat, then place on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375 for 8 minutes or until cracked.  Allow to cool for a few minutes before moving to wire rack to cool.

Store in an airtight container.

For Confetti Cookies: Add 1.5 tsp vanilla or butter vanilla baker’s emulsion and 1 c sprinkles to dough. (I like a mixture of jimmies and confetti. Just don’t use the tiny little balls or they will bleed!) Skip the sugar/cinnamon coating, roll into balls, and bake as usual.
