Christmas Kiss Cookies

It's great when your kids give you permission to do things.  Like, "Hey mom, sleep in today, while I do the dishes and wash my own underwear."

Just kidding.  That's never happened.

But my two year old does tell me all the time to "shop it".

I am always happy enough to oblige with that request.  And fortunately Amazon has my checking account # saved, so I don't even have to pile everyone in the car to keep him happy!

UN- fortunately, my husband is convinced he's saying "stop it".

Silly husband.   I'm fairly certain it makes much more sense for my two year old to want me to buy things.

At any rate, you can have my permission to eat all of these chewy chocolatey surprise filled cookies.

Christmas Kiss Cookies
Recipe from: Colette Rinker
-2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
-1/4 cup butter
-1 can sweetened condensed milk

-2 cups flour (I use 9.5 oz)
-1 tsp vanilla
-40 Hershey's kisses, unwrapped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Melt together chocolate and butter in the microwave at 60% power, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.  Add condensed milk and stir.  Add flour and vanilla to make a stiff dough.

Shape 1 level Tbsp of dough around one Hershey's kiss, sealing completely.  Repeat for each cookie.  Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake 7-8 minutes but no longer! (If the tops begin to crack they are done, but sometimes they don't crack at all.)  I bake mine 7 1/2 minutes.  They won't look done, but don't worry.  They will continue to bake as they sit on the hot cookie sheet.

Allow to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, before moving to wire racks to cool.

Drizzle tops with melted chocolate if desired.  Yields 3 dozen.

What? Your child doesn't regularly offer to do all your household chores, peel grapes, and grocery shop for you? Slacker! Just kidding, of course. I think if my daughter offered to do any of those things my head would explode. But then I wouldn't have to think about explaining the cookie shortage and just eat them all! These look awesome!
