Cake Batter Birthday Buddies

This idea has been floating around in the back of my brain for awhile now.  Muddy buddies... why not birthday buddies.  I think this would be such a cute party favor for kids- packaged up in a little clear cellophane baggie with a ribbon.

My husband thinks these taste like those pink and white frosted Mother's animal crackers  (and he's kind of right).  Does anyone else remember when they went out of business for awhile a few years back?  I think I lost a few years off my life from that experience.

If you're making this for a whole class, you will want to double the recipe as it doesn't make very much.

Enjoy!

 Cake Batter Birthday Buddies
-1/2 cup white candy melts
-8 cups rice Chex cereal
-1/2 cup  yellow cake mix (add another 2 Tbsp if you need it)

-1/3 cup white candy melts
-sprinkles

Measure your Chex cereal into a large bowl.  Melt your 1/2 cup candy melts in a small bowl in the microwave at 50% power, stirring evey 30 seconds until smooth.  Pour over Chex cereal and stir to coat well. Add cake mix to cereal and stir until evenly coated.

Lay cereal mixture out on parchment paper.  Melt 1/3 cup candy melts in a small Ziploc bag, using the same method as above.  (Just knead at each 30 second interval until smooth).  Cut tip of baggie off, and drizzle white chocolate over the top of cereal mixture. Sprinkle with jimmies immediately.

Let cool.  Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
