Snowman and Reindeer Oreo Pops

I started my Christmas shopping this week. So although I am painfully aware it is still August, I figured, what the heck, let's post a holiday treat.  I made these pops last year and have been promising to post them, and since I'm pretty sure I don't want to spend my *December* a very sacred month, posting OLD recipes, I'll just post them now for you.  I take it a personal responsibility to spread Christmas cheer before Halloween costumes are even in stores. PLUS if you're a freakish planner like me, you need lots of time to strategically plan which holiday treats to bake when, who to give them to, how to avoid having heaps of chocolate sitting on your counter all month... this time of year practically calls for a binder!  Oh wait, I have one of those.

Snowman Pops
-Double-stuf Oreos
-Lollipop sticks
-White chocolate chips or white candy melts (plus a bit of oil if you're using chips)
-Orange jelly bellys sliced diagonally to look like a nose
-CK candy writer in black or dark brown

First melt your chocolate at 50% power in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.  If you're using chips add a bit of oil until the chocolate is a good consistency for dipping.  Dip each lollipop stick in the melted chocolate and insert through the creme center of your cookie.  Put on a tray in the freezer for 5 minutes or until sticks are well-set.

Remelt chocolate if it has thickened.  Dip each Oreo in the chocolate mixture.  It may be easiest to hold each pop over the chocolate bowl and just spoon chocolate on top of each cookie, allowing excess to drip back into the bowl.  Tap gently on the side of the bowl to get an even finish.

Place each pop on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Add jelly belly nose while chocolate is still wet.  When tray is full, move to the freezer for a few minutes until chocolate has hardened on the pops.

Melt your candy writer by placing in a bowl of hot water.  When it feels liquidy inside instead of hard, it is ready to use.  Remove pops from freezer and make two eyes, and a mouth of dots using your candy writer.

Allow the dots to set before wrapping up.

Reindeer Pops
-Double-stuf Oreos
-Lollipop sticks
-Semisweet chocolate chips or brown candy melts (plus a bit of oil if you're using chips)
-Red m&m's for the noses
-Pretzels, cut in half to look like antlers (although randomly breaking them in half with your hands is an equally good method.  Just pick the ones that resemble antlers.)
-White confetti sprinkles for eyes
-CK candy writer in black or dark brown

First melt your chocolate at 50% power in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth.  If you're using chips add a bit of oil until the chocolate is a good consistency for dipping.  Dip each lollipop stick in the melted chocolate and insert through the creme center of your cookie.  Put on a tray in the freezer for 5 minutes or until sticks are well-set.

Melt CK candy writer by placing in a bowl of hot water. When it feels liquidy inside instead of hard, it is ready to use.  Place two dollops on each Oreo pop up near the top where you want the antlers to be, and press a pretzel into each dollop.  Hold for several minutes until hardened.  Be sure to use enough coating.  This stuff dries like cement, so as long as you hold it long enough it should hold well.  I'll be honest, this step takes awhile.

Remelt your candy melts or semisweet chocolate if it has thickened. Hold each Oreo pop over the chocolate bowl, and spoon chocolate on top of the cookie, being sure to avoid the antlers.  Allow excess to drip back into the bowl.

When adequately covered, place each pop on a parchment lined cookie sheet.  While still wet, add red m&m for a nose, and two white confetti sprinkles for eyes.  When tray is full, move to the freezer for a few minutes until chocolate has hardened on the pops.

Remelt your CK candy writer if necessary.   Then use it to make small dots on each confetti eye for pupils.  This is what really gives each reindeer its own personality.  I love to make some reindeer with crazy eyes or shifty eyes.

Allow the pupils to set before wrapping up.

*I apologize that the steps for these pops are not fully photographed.  When I made and photographed these this blog did not even exist.  If you are confused about inserting the sticks to the Oreos, please see my other Oreo pop posts, such as Mickey Mouse Oreo Pops*

I have my Christmas shopping 1/3 done (but it is quite easy when you only have to buy for 12 people). And I have already seen Christmas decorations in some of the department stores!
These look so cute and delicious! I think I might make a batch as Christmas gets closer!

I love these! So so so cute. And I hear you - I'm already trying to plan for the holidays. I know what I'm making for Halloween...but still need to do it (and find someone who likes to eat Halloween goodies in September).

I've started my own linky party (Crazy Sweet Tuesdays) and would love if you would join sometime! The party is open from Tuesday through Thursday evening. Hope to see you!
